Project Update


Overview

The match two game - Traveller's Caravan has been slowly making it's way to becoming the game that we imagined. Over the past few weeks, we have been working to get models finished and code programmed. Many of the pieces in the project have been replaced with blockouts of items that will be used in the game. We're slowly finalising some ideas on design and gameplay so some ideas of the what the final game would look like have changed. The core mechanics of the game have been mostly implemented.

Details
Design -
After a week of discussions we have settled on boxes flipping around rather than lifting them up. This way we won't bump into space issues and would make the whole layout of the game look a lot cleaner.

We also decided on the character and caravan design.


Art - 
Items that would be behind the boxes have been modelled and added to the project. This includes models for the Dagger, Book, Quill & Ink Well, Crystal Ore, Coin, Ring, Scroll, Tankard, Rune, Potion Bottle and Vial.

Items that would be in the foreground of the game have been created but not yet added into the game. This includes models for the Crate, Grain Sack, Chest/Trunk and Barrel.


The Caravan has been blocked out and added to the game.

Programming - 
The match two system now works. After clicking two boxes and revealing the item, if you make a match the items will stay and the boxes disappear. 

A win condition has been added so that when you are finished you get a message pop up.

A lose condition has also been added. We have added a timer, if you don't complete the match two within the time, you lose.


Currently -
We have not been working as much as we would like to for each week but we are most likely still on track. The models are being UV'ed for texturing. The Caravan is being modelled in detail and grass is being planted. 

Future - 
Since most of the game pieces have been decided and created. Over next few weeks we are mostly likely going to be discussing more of what the game would be. Would there be levels, Would there be more themes? Stay tuned to find out. That being said we are probably going to start working on UI and sound for the game as well.
