The Traveller Is On His Way!


OVERVIEW 

As we near the end of our project, I’d like to thank the help of my teammate Ting as well as Danny and Trent for helping us see this project to completion. It’s been a hectic 12 weeks!

We’ve made many, many updates to the game since we last updated you all so in this log we’re going to look over some of the changes we’ve implemented and added to our little game.

ART
Most of the game’s textures have now been finalised, there are a few straggling textures to get into the game but they don’t hinder gameplay by any means. So we’ll see those in over the coming weeks.

We’ve done a lot to build out our scene. The little town setting is complete and since deciding on the overall tone and atmosphere we have built a quaint little setting for our game. We decided on our skybox recently and it really helped push the game in the final direction we ended up and helped us plan out lighting.


Traveller’s is now in a night time town setting and has the lighting to match. We’ve got lots of little point lights baked in around the scene and some key lighting around the gameplay area that really sets the tone and mood.

We decided to add a particle system over the whole scene to build atmosphere in our game and make the setting feel more alive. These have been set to look like little fireflies in the scene. We also found a fun package that adds AI birds that are able to fly around and land on points you set. You’ll see those in the main menu and occasionally in the background of gameplay.

PROGRAMMING
We haven’t implemented anything new programming wise. The game as it is in that regards is pretty set. We have been squashing bugs as they pop up though to keep Traveller’s running smoothly as and optimal as possible!

AUDIO
We now have lots of audio queues in games for when you match and mismatch items as well as when you win or lose a game. We have finalised our menu and gameplay music and SFX however we still need to transition between the menu and gameplay music. This should be fixed in the coming weeks also.


CURRENTLY
There are a lot of small fixes and additions that we have planned to be added over the coming days and weeks so they what we are looking to do next. The game is almost ready so we will see the launch version very soon!

We have also made a recent update to our twitch page with some gameplay footage, screenshots and a beta build so please check it out and give us your feedback! 

FUTURE
We are looking to launch Traveller’s Caravan in just two short weeks so we’re planning for that and getting everything ready and polished. Once the fixes and updates are out of the way we will be looking to squash bugs as always and clean the game up so it’s the best experience for you, the players!
